Support for Veterans Memorial Park of Kentucky

By Sean

Today we’re happy to announce the latest project on Neighbor.ly, the Veterans Memorial Park of Kentucky. This project is an effort to fund a beautiful and memorable walkway through 300 years of military history. The segmented walkway will be the first installment to the Memorial Park and will serve as a visual indicator of major US military engagements since 1776. Colored segments of the walk represent at least one American death in military action that year. This is a significant and moving project to honor our nation’s heroes.

Before the Neighbor.ly campaign began, the board members of the Veterans Memorial Park of Kentucky were busy rallying support for the project. Throughout the process, various members of the community stepped up to provide in-kind donations for the park offering materials, services and time. The land for the park, valued at over $300,000, was donated to the board and individuals with backgrounds in architecture, arborculture, construction and engineering are all lending a hand to make this dream a reality. Among the vocal support for the project are Dakota Meyer, former Marine and Les Beavers, Executive Director of National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs, who have written letters detailing their full support.
